Queen Nana Afia – Winner of Miss College Ghana 2024 Launches NAKY Foundation to Support Children with Autism

Queen Nana Afia - Winner of Miss College Ghana 2024

Nana Afia Konadu Yeboah, the crowned Miss Ecowas 2023, has taken a commendable step towards raising awareness for children with autism through the launch of the NAKY Foundation.

In collaboration with the Techiman Traditional Council, this initiative aims to empower, inspire, and transform the lives of autistic children and those in need.

The primary goal of the NAKY Foundation is to help and create awareness for children with autism. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects many children globally, often leading to challenges in communication, behavior, and social interactions.

The foundation seeks to bridge the gap in understanding and support for these children, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and opportunities to thrive.

Nana Afia Konadu Yeboah, an advocate for autistic people, emphasized the need to change societal perceptions about autism. She stated, “I stand against any derogatory remarks about autistic individuals. Criticizing them as less than human only contributes to their feeling of neglect by society. Autism is not a disability but a different way of ability. Our first priority is helping and creating awareness of children with autism, and we also aim to empower, inspire, and transform their lives, as well as those of the needy.”

The launch event saw the collaboration of various stakeholders committed to the foundation’s cause. Nana Afia Konadu Yeboah and the Techiman Traditional Council lent their esteemed support, highlighting the community’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all children.

The NAKY Foundation is proud to have the backing of several notable sponsors, including Boswills, Safare Tissues, Belpak, and Rag Consult. These organizations have pledged their support to help the foundation achieve its mission. Additionally, Logingh Studios partnered as the official media partner, ensuring the event and the foundation’s activities receive the visibility they deserve.

The foundation’s flyer encapsulates its message with the slogan “Autism: Always Unique Totally Intelligent Sometimes Mysterious.” Nana Afia Konadu Yeboah, also known for her title as Miss Bono East 2022, calls for voluntary support to help achieve the foundation’s goals.

Speaking at the launch, Nana Afia Konadu Yeboah expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported the foundation’s journey thus far. She emphasized the importance of community involvement and the collective effort needed to make a tangible difference in the lives of children with autism. “Our goal is to not only raise awareness but also to empower, inspire, and transform the lives of these incredible children,” she said.

Through the NAKY Foundation, Nana Afia Konadu Yeboah continues to advocate for a more inclusive and supportive society for individuals with autism, striving to make a meaningful impact on their lives and the community at large.
