10th Ghana Dance Festival set for August 29th to September 23rd by Dancetera

Dancetera, the organizers of the annual Ghana Dance Festival, has announced the dates for the 2024 celebration of dance’s biggest season. This year’s festival will officially commence on August 29th and run until September 23rd, culminating in an awards ceremony that will honor the icons of dance and their immense contributions to the culture.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the festival promises an exciting lineup of events. As dance takes center stage in the entertainment space, the festival is set to deliver quality entertainment to all while celebrating dancers and their works. Robert Klah, CEO of Dancetera, highlighted the multifaceted nature of dance, stating, “Dance means different things to different people. For some, it is a source of exercise, an act of worship, a source of entertainment, a career path, a study course, a sport, an intangible cultural heritage, an expression of art.”

This special edition will feature two significant additions: the DanceSport League and the Dance Awards. The inclusion of dance in the Olympics necessitates local engagements to keep the momentum going, and the DanceSport League aims to achieve just that. The long-anticipated Dance Awards will also be part of the festival, recognizing excellence in various dance forms.

The festival will include a variety of activities such as dance awards, tour experiences, dance parties, workshops, seminars, and performances. These events will showcase diverse dance forms including theatre dance, street dance, folk dance, praise dance, Afro-Latin dance, and DanceSport battles. The festival is expected to draw international participants, with confirmed dancers from Togo, Benin, Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya.

Dancers who wish to participate can register via the Ghana Dance Festival’s social media pages. The 10th edition of the Ghana Dance Festival is brought to you in collaboration with the Dancers and DanceSport Association of Ghana (DDASPAG) and powered by Dancetera, your Dance Channel.
