Black Stars Technical Team Survives Serious Accident on Tarkwa-Takoradi Road

The Black Stars’ technical team narrowly escaped a severe accident on the Tarkwa-Takoradi road on Sunday morning while returning from the Champion of Champions clash between Nsoatreman and Samartex at the TnA Park.
The team, including Head Coach Otto Addo, Assistant Coach John Paintsil, and Goalkeepers Trainer Fatawu Dauda, were traveling in a Land Cruiser (registration GR 6521-21) when the vehicle’s back wheels unexpectedly detached, causing a dangerous situation.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident was nearly unavoidable when a pickup truck swerved into their lane, almost resulting in a head-on collision. The Land Cruiser’s driver managed to avert disaster through quick reflexes and skillful handling.
Fortunately, none of the occupants sustained serious injuries, but as a precaution, they were taken to a hospital in Takoradi for medical checks before continuing their journey to Accra.
The incident occurred just days before the Black Stars are set to begin their training camp in Accra on Monday, ahead of their crucial 2025 AFCON qualifier against Angola in Kumasi. The football community is relieved that the coaches are safe and can continue preparations for the upcoming match.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not yet released an official statement but is focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of the coaching staff.
