Nana Kwame Bediako Unveils Bold Plan to Industrialize Ghana’s 16 Regions: The 12 Pillars of Economic Freedom

Independent presidential aspirant and leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, has launched a groundbreaking vision for Ghana’s economic future with his manifesto, “The 12 Pillars of Economic Freedom.” During a highly anticipated virtual event, Bediako outlined his ambitious plans to industrialize all 16 regions of Ghana, aiming to transform the nation’s economy.
The livestreamed manifesto launch, which attracted a significant online audience, featured detailed artist impressions and mock-ups to illustrate Bediako’s bold vision for Ghana’s industrial future. At the core of his strategy is the transformation of the Western Region into the “Texas of Africa,” capitalizing on its abundant natural resources to drive industrial growth.
“We have to take the Western Region seriously because it has a lot of natural resources,” Bediako emphasized. “Western Region is going to become the Texas of Africa.”
Bediako’s strategy focuses on shifting Ghana’s economic priorities from imports to exports, a move he argues is critical for strengthening the national economy and controlling inflation. He outlined plans to build local refineries and boost petrochemical production, reducing the nation’s reliance on foreign markets and stabilizing prices.
“We need to export more, not import more,” Bediako stated. “All we have to do is build our refineries, and we will have competitive prices, saving the economy from inflation just because of industrialization.”
Highlighting Ghana’s current oil production capacity of 200,000 barrels per day, Bediako proposed that refining oil domestically would not only create jobs but also reduce Ghana’s dependence on international markets.
“We produce 200,000 barrels of oil per day in Ghana. We sell this, and then people extract it, go and refine it abroad. They return to Europe and sell it back to us at premium prices. We’re buying our own fuel at 15 point something cedis per liter,” he explained.
Bediako’s manifesto introduces 12 key pillars designed to achieve economic freedom and prosperity in Ghana:
- 16 Regional Industrial Revolution: A strategy to industrialize all regions.
- Ghana’s First Water Transportation & Sub-Regional Railway: Expanding Ghana’s transport infrastructure.
