Afua Asantewaa Set to Host Another Sing-a-thon in Kumasi This December

Afua Asantewaa, the event planner and Guinness World Record aspirant known for her ambitious singing marathon, is gearing up for another sing-a-thon this December in Kumasi. After her bold attempt in 2023 to break the record for the longest individual singing marathon, currently held by Sunil Waghmare, Afua was disqualified after five days of continuous singing.
Despite the setback, Afua remains undeterred. In a recent interview with Akoma FM’s Tony Best, she revealed that she has received new clearance from Guinness World Records and is preparing for her next attempt.
“I’m excited to announce that, God willing, this December I’ll be hosting another sing-a-thon, but this time in Kumasi,” she said. Afua and her team are currently assessing different parts of the city to determine the most suitable location for the event. She hopes the new venue will not only draw in local support but also strengthen her role as a tourism ambassador.
“The fact that I didn’t succeed in my first attempt doesn’t mean I’ll stop pursuing my dream of becoming a Guinness World Record holder,” she added.
Afua Asantewaa also mentioned that a press conference will be held soon to officially launch the event.
