WASSCE 2024: Results Still In Limbo Despite WAEC Receiving GH¢25 Million From Government

WAEC has said the GH¢25 million released by the government to cover part of GH¢118 million debt is not enough to ensure the release of the 2024 WASSCE results
The WAEC has said it needs the full funds to repair faulty scanners and continue the scanning process and other post-exam activities
The council initially planned to release the WASSCE results between December 9 and December 15, 2024.
According to WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, the GH¢25 million released is far from adequate to address the council’s pressing financial needs. He explained that this amount would barely cover payments to technicians, who are owed GH¢25 million for repairing faulty scanners critical to processing exam scripts.
“We indicated earlier that we owed our technicians GH¢25 million, which had to be paid before they could work on the machines. Besides, there are additional operational expenses,” he stated.
Initially, WAEC planned to release the 2024 WASSCE results between December 9 and December 15, 2024. However, without full funding, the council warns that further delays are inevitable, as the GH¢25 million will only temporarily address one aspect of the larger debt problem.
Students, parents, and stakeholders are anxiously awaiting updates as WAEC continues to call on the government to honor its full financial commitment.
