Thomas Mort Declares Council of State Bid, Highlights Decades of NDC Loyalty

Thomas Mort, a well-known advocate for community action and development and a recognized member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has officially announced his candidacy for a Council of State seat.
With over five decades of dedicated service in healthcare delivery, nursing education, political leadership, and youth empowerment, Mort is a highly respected figure in the Upper East Region. His journey, marked by resilience and sacrifice, reflects his deep commitment to public service and the core values of the NDC.
As a founding member of the NDC in the Upper East Region, Mort reminded the electoral college of his pivotal role in shaping the party’s vision and strategies over the years.
Despite his immense contributions—including selling his properties and car to support the party during critical times—he has often been overlooked for key appointments.
Reflecting on his sacrifices, he shared: “In 1993, I was promised the position of DCE for Bolgatanga, but at the last moment, someone else was given the role. Similar promises in 1995 and beyond also went unfulfilled. Yet, I remained committed and continued working tirelessly for the party.â€
Now, as he vies for a seat in the Council of State, Mort faces tough competition from other seasoned political figures in the region. His campaign is centered on inclusive governance, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of ensuring representation for all, including marginalized groups such as persons with disabilities.
Mort believes his ability to bridge divides, foster unity, and drive development makes him a strong contender for the position.
