
Zuarungu, a key community in the Upper East Region, is set to witness significant development under the presidency of His Excellency John Mahama. The assurance came from the Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, during a courtesy visit to the Zuarungu Palace on Tuesday.
Government’s Commitment to Zuarungu’s Development
During his visit, Hon. Akamugri met with Naba Bilea Namaal-Tinga Caeser A. Afegera III and his elders to discuss the community’s development needs. The meeting highlighted several pressing infrastructure challenges, with the palace making urgent requests for government intervention.
The key areas of concern included:
• Completion of the Agenda 111 project: The traditional authorities urged the government to resume work on the unfinished hospital project to enhance healthcare services in Zuarungu.
• Development of an abandoned Astroturf facility: The elders stressed the need to complete the Astroturf to promote sports and youth development in the area.
• Construction of a lorry park: The community has already allocated land for the project and is calling on the government to facilitate its construction to improve transportation and trade activities.
• Improvement of inner roads: Better road networks within Zuarungu will enhance mobility and economic growth.
Minister Pledges Government Support
Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga assured the chief and elders that their concerns had been duly noted. He emphasized that the Mahama-led administration is committed to ensuring inclusive development across the Upper East Region.
Additionally, the minister conveyed President Mahama’s warmest regards to the traditional authorities, reinforcing the government’s dedication to addressing local infrastructure needs.
