President Mahama Appoints COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu as New IGP

President John Dramani Mahama has officially appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP). The appointment, made in consultation with the Council of State, aligns with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution.

COP Yohunu replaces COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, who previously held the position. With an impressive 40 years of experience in the Ghana Police Service, COP Yohunu is expected to lead the force’s modernization and transformation efforts. His extensive expertise in law enforcement and strategic leadership positions him as a key figure in enhancing the operational efficiency and public trust in the Ghana Police Service.

The appointment reflects President Mahama’s commitment to strengthening national security and improving police services.
